Title: A Student Should Not Take on a Part-time Job

Nowadays, students love to have part-time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the teenagers nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the students are working part-time jobs and some have the intention to work. When we are in any fast food restaurant, supermarket or shop, there are must be school students who are working. We cannot leave this matter as we are dreaded to see that students are working instead of studying in the future. They have the whole adult life to work and we do not want to see them work very hard as they are qualified to have better careers in the future. A student should not take on a part-time job because it will disturb their routine as students, they will be distracted with extra money and freedom earned and they should be involved in school activities.

First, working will disturb their routine as students. They have a lot of homework to do rather than working outside. In addition of school homework, there is tuition they have to attend. By working, they are most likely to skip their classes if their shifts overlap their schedules. Furthermore, they will not have enough time to study. As a part-time worker, their schedules are not regular and well organized. Some of them will work till late at night and neglect their studies as well. When they are at school, they will most likely to fall asleep and cannot pay attention in class. It also affects their performance in other activities at school. In addition, it will lead to the decline of their grades. They will have no time to revise their learning to prepare for examination. It causes their grades fall down badly and leads to depression. Worst of all is when they are giving up in their studies and decide to work as their priorities. Hence, working part-time job will disturb students’ routine and lead to many disadvantages.

Second, students who are working part-time job will be distracted with extra money and freedom earned. They are tending to spend their salary unnecessarily. For instance, girls will buy stuff like trendy dress and expensive shoes that they do not need in their age fully. While boys tend to spend on buying new motorbikes and other accessories that waste a lot of money. We cannot leave them to be the slaves of fashion and technology. In addition, by working, they will be affected by their friends to hang around outside. Parents have given them a lot of freedom by letting them to have a part-time job outside. As they are too young, they are easily getting on with their friends’ usual activities. The parents do not know whom they are being friends to, so it is dangerous to let them free without being controlled. Bad friends’ influences will lead to unhealthy social activities. At first, they will return home late night because of loitering around. We are afraid they will start to learn smoking, illegal racing and even getting drunk. If they are getting carried away, they will be one of them who are making troubles to the society such as vandalism. Thus, those who are distracted by extra money and freedom earned, they will most likely to be influenced by bad peers.

Lastly, students at their age should be involved with school activities and better hobbies instead of working. When they are working, they do not have leisure time to release their tension and have a good hobby. In one hand, by having a good hobby, their leisure time will be spent with good activities that they like the most. On the other hand, work part-time lead to depression and exhaustion every day. Having a hobby is not only making them glad with themselves, it also leads to healthier lifestyle such as reading, cycling and cleaning. Hobbies also tighten the family relationship. The whole family can spend time together by having the same activities. For example, in the weekend, they should spend time together by doing some activities or having a picnic on the beach. If the students are even working, they will not have time to be together and the family bond will be more apart. Besides, by involving themselves in school activities, they will not waste time on unnecessary things. Schools have held a lot of activities for students such as extracurricular activities. By involving in these activities, students are not only taking part on healthier activities, they are also socializing with their friends in a good way. These kinds of activities will prevent them from influenced by unhealthy social activities outside. So, students should be involved with school activities or a better hobby instead of working because it leads to healthier lifestyle.

In the nutshell, students should not take on a part-time job as it brings a lot of misery to them. Students should be involved with school or had a hobby to have a healthier lifestyle. Part-time job is preventing them from having fun at school or even home. Moreover, they will be distracted by the extra money and freedom they have earned. They are tending to waste money and time when they are working outside without their parents around. Furthermore, jobs at their age disturb their routine as a student. This is because they cannot pay attention in the class and cannot perform well in their examination. So, students are not encouraged to have jobs because it will lead to their own misery and burden them more.

Using Technology

Perspective teachers have the difficulties in reflecting themselves to interact with their texts. This makes it more difficult when they have to deal with their students as well. Usually, they know what they have learned in college, but they do not know how to explain them to their students. These prospective teachers have to find a way to make their personal strategies work with their prospective students. In knowing how to respond to the texts, they can apply several ways. For example, they can select their own attention in a text and use the slow-motion process in studying. Technology can also be used to help in learning process such as electronic texts. By using an eBook Reader, it makes their understanding towards some topics easier. Furthermore, the using of electronic texts gives many advantages for their classroom and problematic students.

From my point of view, I am totally agreed with this article. Nowadays, new teachers tend to teach based on the textbooks or their notes. It affects their students’ performance as well if their students cannot see what they are trying to point out, especially when further explanations are not given out. Even they are used to study very hard and get good marks in their college, but in some cases, teachers cannot perform well when they are teaching. Their strategies in teaching are not as good as their general knowledge. However, I have the same problem as these prospective teachers. Although I understand what I have learned, when it comes to explain them, I cannot do as good as what I have known. It will affect my career later on if I do not try to improve myself.

From several ways that have been given in the article, it can help the problematic prospective teachers in improving their personal strategies of teaching. From selecting the main point from a text, it helps a lot in focusing on the attended topics. I also have the problem with focusing on my studies. Usually, students will get distracted easily and find it is really hard to focus on studying. However, the key of focusing is mainly interest. When we are not interested in something, we find it hard to pay attention on it. Furthermore, by slowing down the reading process, it helps us to understand better. Usually, I have to spend a lot of time in order to better understand some reading materials.
Prospective teachers also get help by using of technology and the Internet. Electronic texts or eBooks are able to enhance their strategies of teaching. Moreover, it is easier that way when we just click on several choices to get a text. This kind of study gives the potential in classroom and also helps problematic students. In addition, eBooks has a variety of choices which can be searched by the students. For me, they are beneficial not only for teachers, but also for students. It takes time when we have to search throughout a book for a suitable text, but with these electronic texts, we can get it easier.

From the electronic books they have read, they can discuss it in a group. It is a good experience and information for them. Unfortunately, in my school days, we never had such discussion. I believe this is the best way to improve their knowledge and strategies as well. They have to make their class live and interesting as well. In the future, perhaps there are more uses of technology in the classroom, so these prospective teachers have to master them. Technology helps in finding a wide range of reading materials for their students which bring good benefits for them.

When My Cats Are Eating The Grass

Most of the people assume that cats eat grass to prevent the injury which will make themselves sick. Moreover, people thought cats may have eaten food that is off. Furthermore, it could be that the cats has swallowed too much hair while grooming themselves and needs to cough up a hairball. While the second theory says that cats eat grass to obtain Folic Acid which cannot be obtained from meat. Third theory points out that grass is rich in chlorophyll which has similar properties to antibiotics and can be a cure to some health problems they faced. The fourth theory states that cats just simply love the taste and enjoy munching the grass.

All the four reasons are logical and true. I am totally agree with the reasons. In my points of view, seeing cats munch grass quite confusing. They are said not eating this type of food, which disagrees with them. I myself have two cats and they behave the same. When I set foot in the garden, both of them have nibbled on bits of grass. I worry too much and will not let them to eat grass. They will cough after that but still munching the grass. I get mad to see it as I thought they torture themselves. I thought they will get sick and promptly get them away from the grass. After that, I kept an eye on them.  But when they are munching the grass, I have noticed some conditions of why they eat the grass.

First, I think they are too hungry and ended up eating grass. Being a busy host always make me forget to feed them. As I am always learning to be responsible towards my pets, I will feed them eventually. When I search for them, they are munching grasses with enjoyment and sheer excitement at the lawn. I feel guilty towards them and disgusted at the same time. As it is not their common behaviour like before, I get worried and get them away from the grass. Cats do not have the enzyme needed to digest grass although the amounts they eat are so small. In addition, I am afraid they will get poison from invisible pesticides which may present there. I always get worried too if they keep munching the grass when I am not around or caught something when playing outside. After that, I never forget to feed them and request my family to replace me when I am not around.

Cats are known as playful pets and always risk themselves. Then I thought they are just being playful as they are created to be. My cats are always busy chasing things, they are rarely catching things. This has been a comfort to me because I do not want them eating anything which will make them sick. But, unfortunately, they are not only eating grass, but will munch any disgusting things like thread, hairs and others. As they will munch almost everything, I persuade myself to not worry when they are munching grass. But still, I will prevent them from munching other things instead of their own food which will agree with them the most for their own safety and health.

Lastly, from reading, I have discovered that eating the grass helps them to vomit. It is almost the same as the first theory, and I myself have encountered it. When my cats eat the grass, they will cough up and give out the grass again. They are not eating the grass fully, more to munching. Maybe they have eaten things that disagree with them and by eating the grass, it makes them vomit. Perhaps the taste is not that delicious which make them vomit. Cats are said discovered that is too late for them when they have eaten something that disagrees with them. Under these conditions, cats eat grass in order to make them vomit.

Apart from eating the grass, they look fine. They are cheerful and still full of energy. I will make sure that both of them are totally fine from their weird habits. What is important now is that both of the cats are now perfectly okay. Next time, when I see them munching the grass, simply I have to ignore them. As I have learned that grass is the catalyst to help them, I am totally relieved now when I encounter them munching the grass.

English is Important

Briefly, the article is about the importance of language to human beings. A language is the written and spoken methods of combining words to create meaning used by a particular group of people. There are also many theories and assumptions made by several groups regarding language. There are also many examples of written and spoken languages used by people around the world. In this article, it appoints the Indians, where they have mastered English language by their own ways. The Indians are respected by mastering in English language very well. The citizens and the leaders themselves have their own ways to make the Indians master this language. Indians are respectable for this and the other citizens are encouraged to follow them. English as the international language is important to be mastered by people throughout the world. It also stated some of the advantages of mastering English.

In my point of views, language is very important to human beings as it is the basic capacity for them. Without language, people cannot express their ideas and feelings. It is true that language is the code to express ourselves and communicate with other people. However, in my opinion, language is not only in written and spoken methods, it also can be conveyed through gestures or signs. Using face mimic or hands can also be considered as language as people will surely recognize those signs. As long as people can understand it, it can be considered as part of languages.

As far as we know, English is the international language for people throughout the world. It is important for everyone to master it to make their communications better and easier. For instance, India had been ruled by the British for over two centuries and it gave them an easy access in mastering English language. Nowadays, many Indians are skilled as their authors and movie makers had received prizes and awards. On the other hand, our citizens still cannot master it completely. We share something in common with Indians, where we got the easy access in mastering this language. In my opinion, it is mainly because of our attitudes. Previously, our people did not accept British rules, and completely rejected them. Although the British had brought some benefits to us, we thought it as a misery for them and their generations. Eventually, we got nothing from it as we did not have the chance to learn.

Fortunately, nowadays, there are some people who aware of this and intend to learn it. There are some people who make us proud such as our leaders. English is also our aid in commercial transactions throughout the globe. It is stated that English has brought laurels to many Indian business managers. Indians travel from North to South for education and business and use English as their language. Furthermore, the Minister of Indian Railways demands teaching of English in schools. Malaysians also had to follow these steps to increase the skill in using English. We have to bear in our mind that English poses no danger to Malay language, like to Indian languages. With English, we also can learn from others’ experiences. Moreover, we can use English to promote our worldview to others. The greatness of Indian view of religion had been accepted by the world. By mastering English, we can promote our view as well and be accepted by other people throughout the world. Then, it can be concluded that it does not require any further argument of the advantages of English at the international level. It has become increasingly essential for us as the medium of communication.

The Yummy Fruitcake

Anna was a chemist at a factory named Amos. One day, accidentally she mixed up her lunch with all the things. She tried it on her as it smelled good. Right after that, her handsome boss complemented her while she knew him as a person who would not even have a second glance on an ordinary girl like her.  A waiter as well fall in love with her. Being confused, she searched for the fruitcake, whose a woman made them, and she had seven husbands! Unfortunately, the woman was dead.

She was back at the office after two days off work. Sabina was there. When Anna was pissed off, she threw the remaining perfume to the envious lady and quit from her work, and worked as a chemist at the factory who made her favourite perfume.

I was wondering whether such a cake is existed or not? However, this story is funny and interesting. It is focuses on a common chemist on a factory, which ironically is attracting because of fruitcake.
The ending is awesome when the pizza boy they have been talking about at the beginning is really actually having his own company, and like her mother and Aunt Mimi had said, he had fallen in love with Anna.

QWERTYUIOP

Some random letters can be a title for a short story.

QWERTYUIOP, is one of an interesting story so far. It is kind of ghost story, about a ghost typewriter who disturbed the new secretary at a company. She thought herself as the only qualified secretary there, and the others were rubbish and were not needed there.

Lucy Beck was a poor student with a poor result, which made her think, nobody would employ her. Her principal, Mrs Price had given up on her entirely. Her mother was supporting, on the other hand, which made Lucy more upset as she wished her mother could lost her temper once.

However, luck was perhaps on her side at that time when she was offered a job, where the company was searching for a poor resulted student like her. Even it was quite weird, she told her mother with enthusiasm, without realizing it perhaps bring more disaster in her life.

Started working, she was given the task of typing letters. Then it happened. She wrote QWERTYUIOP repeatedly, which she thought she was actually getting crazy. She tried to retype the letter, then a message come. It gave her the creep, as it sound like GO AWAY and WE DO NOT WANT YOU HERE. Well, she did not give up.She tried, but the message became clearer, then she knew something is wrong with the typewriter.

Her manager was shocked to see her remained, as many of his new secretary quit on their first day. Lucy also found the way to get the ghost away, which amazed him, and actually saying that she deserved to be here.

Gaining many As is actually not to be our primary goal. When we are working, we will know what we belong to, and what our advantages. It is the same as Lucy, as she was a poor student back then, but who knows she could be an excellent worker.

The Fake Necklace She Had Been Dreaming For

Madame Mathilde Loisel had the imagination of having a high position in society with wonderful jewels. However, being married to a clerk gave her nothing. Her husband tried everything to please her, and one day he got two invitations for a party. Mathilde refused, as she got nothing to wear. Using money that he had saved to buy a rifle, he let Mathilde to buy a dress. Still, she was not happy for not having the proper jewels. She then borrowed the fanciest jewel necklace from her best friend, Madame Jeanne Forestier. Unfortunately, after being flattered at the ball, she realized she had lost the necklace.

Failed in searching it, they took out loan from friends and loan sharks to replace the necklace with the exact look. It took them ten years of hard labour to repay them back. Toward the end, Mathilde was taking a walk, remembering her past which changed her life drastically. There, she met Madame Forestier, her best friend, who was shocked by Mathilde's look. Mathilde explained what had happened, but she was shocked when Madame Forestier said the lost necklace was only a fake.

By believing she was born in the wrong social class, after one night of denying the truth, Mathilde lost them altogether. It can be understood by people why she was eagerly attending the party, as she was tired living her life. The readers may doubt her love and loyalty towards her husband, as she was discontented with everything and blamed her husband. Her husband's love was showed obviously, as he tried everything to please his wife despite his condition with nothing to offer.  When her husband gave her money to buy a dress, she was not grateful for that but asking for more. However, when her best friend Forestier lent her the necklace, she showed a great passion towards her. It proved that Mathilde was showing her affection only towards her rich friend, and her love for her poor husband is almost none, or maybe did not exist from the beginning.

At the ball, she was ashamed to be with her husband. Mr. Loisel waited for her at an old salon, while Mathilde was happily dancing with rich and powerful men, who she had been dreaming for. She was trying to get away from her husband despite his love. When she lost the necklace, he was not angry, instead, he was searching for it desperately, to please her again.

In the end, when Mathilde knew that the necklace was fake, she must have been realize that her day of becoming part of rich people was also fake. It was mainly her imagination to be adored and envied, as the fake necklace symbolized her imagination. If only Mathilde had accepted her lot in life, as her husband had, and if she had loved him just as much as he loved her, she could have been content, but her unrelenting desire for all that was not hers consequently left both her and her husband with even less than they started with.

Everyone is a Dr. Jekyll, Everyone has a Mr. Hyde

When I said, "She's a Jekyll and Hyde", it means she has both the evil and good personality. Is it right that everyone has their good and bad side? Is it really possible for someone who is thoroughly nice and at the same time is freaking evil? I am, I guess.

I like this story from the start, at the moment I heard the title, at the moment when my teacher spoke up the story. Till now, I still like the story, although some of the details has melted away from my mind now.

The story was about Dr. Henry Jekyll who made an experiment to prove that human soul was made from two separate distinctions, good and bad. He made two potions which one of them transformed him into Edward Hyde. Soon Dr. Jekyll realized that the Hyde character became inalterable where he stated, "I had gone to bed Henry Jekyll, I had awakened Edward Hyde". Jekyll then decided to give up the freedom of  Hyde, but he was tortured by Hyde's longing and once again took the potion and brutally murdered Carew. Soon, the potion failed to work, left Jekyll with no choice but killed himself to stop Hyde from his bad deeds.

My favourite character is the first ever mentioned, the lawyer Mr Utterson. I think of him as the lead character, (although he was merely an important supporting character) as he was the one looking for the answer of the mystery. He was the trusted friend of Dr. Jekyll, lovable, and cared about him. He was present in almost every chapters!

Throughout the story, a lot of questions pop out from my mind. Why Dr Jekyll let Mr Hyde free? Dr Jekyll realized he could transform into Mr Hyde, then didn't it mean he still had a complete control over himself and Hyde altogether? I should explore about this more. ;)

The Phantom I Fall in Love with

When I was in Form 2, I was compelled to accept Potato People as my Literature Component. It was an interesting though as reading is my thing, but as I flipped through the pages of my English textbook for the summary, I was attracted by the words, "The Phantom of the Opera". As curious as I could be, I searched for its information throughout the book, and I could not resist the urge to own the book by my own. But till today, still I have not get this book.

The Phantom of the Opera by Jennifer Bassette is about a phantom named Erik who lived in an Opera House. It is 1880, in an Opera House in Paris, where people was talking about the Phantom of the Opera, the ghost that lived somewhere under the Opera House. The Phantom was a man in black clothes. He had a yellow face, no nose, and black holes for eyes. Everybody was afraid of the Phantom - the singers, the dancers, the directors, the stage workers.

The phantom, Erik, blackmailed and threatened the people  who ran the opera. He made them feel very afraid of him. Later he even kidnapped Christine for his own selfish reasons. When he knew Christine's affection towards Raoul, he wanted to kill him. All these actions do not show good human qualities. However, he was not totally bad. In fact, he was a very interesting character. He owned the bad qualities, but he was also compassionate and considerate to people he loved, Christine. He did not torture Christine as we assumed so, as when he realized how much Christine loved Raoul, he released her.

Christine's life story was somewhat similar to the fairy tales. From childhood, her father, a talented musician had filled her soul with the view of the world that was found in folk stories. Her meeting with Raoul was somewhat destined when they were met again years later at the opera house. The innocence she carried into adulthood, caused her to fall victim to Erik. She was kindhearted as well. As she tried to protect her love, Raoul from being hurt by the Phantom, still she sympathized Erik. She did not fear Erik eventually, and she was the one who believed that Erik was not a bad person entirely.

I must read this book to know more about Raoul. He seems to be the kind of guy women will fall for!

Heading to bookstore searching for this will not help, I believe. Just hope to find a copy of it, which fall from the sky!

Leisurely Doing These

Leisure by William Henry Davies

What is this life, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like stars at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Leisure by William Henry Davies is an incredible poem about taking the time to look around and notice the beauty that every day holds. It is briefly about man nowadays who do not have the time to enjoy their life entirely. Whatever happens in the world, they are oblivious as they are somewhat overwhelmed by their works and responsibilities. Leisure teaches us that we need to slow our lives down and take a look around and notice the little things. It shows that we should take advantage of the little time that we have on this earth and pay attention to the little things.

First, it is asking what is good life if we don’t take the time to stand and look at what’s going on around us. We do not even take the time to look at the little things. We never wake up and gaze at the beauty of the first rays of the sun shining down. When the sun goes down and night takes over we don’t look up and admire the moon or the twinkling stars. We just go on with our fast paced lives as though it is nothing special, when in reality it is a magnificent creation like a work of art hanging in a museum. The poet compares human with "sheep and cows", which can stand and stare as long as they wish.

This is saying, again, how we do not ever seem to take the time to see the world around us. We have to look around when travelling down the road and what we passing about. We should take the time to recognize the world around us and see what’s going on. The poet claims that when we pass the wooded area, we will not notice where the squirrels hide the nuts in the grass.

We can’t even take the time to enjoy the smile of another person because we are too caught up in where we have to be next and what we are doing ten minutes from now. Time is when we just empty our minds for sometimes and let the beauty of little pleasures of life fill it. There is no time to stop and stare as a beautiful woman dances, and no time to wait to see her smile, first with her eyes, then with her mouth.

The final couplet makes something of a moral judgement that it is pretty pitiful as we cannot stand stare at natural and beautiful things, just because they are bogged down with responsibilities and worries.

Although the poet includes himself as one of the members of the crowd who do not have the time to observe nature and beauty closely, at the same time, he demonstrates that in fact he has taken the time to do it. He has obviously overcome these as when he states what he notices things around him, and now he tries to persuade people to "stand and stare".
